PDGN Vice-President, Dr Mustafa Brahimi, who led the fight for a soda tax in the Moroccan Parliament, is delighted to report that the Moroccan League for the Fight against Diabetes has won an award from the United Nations.
The task force of which he is a part has received the award of the UN Interagency Task Force and the World Health Organisation Special Programme on Primary Health Care for the adoption by Morocco of the tax on sugary drinks.
These awards are in recognition of the key role people and organisations play in raising awareness and building capacity around the prevention and control of diabetes. The award was presented during the UN General Assembly High level meeting in New York on 21st September.
